Thaikun

Hellooo Loveliess

I know I have been doing a lot of food posts recently... BUT this one is a MUST! Though I will try to keep it short and sweet for you guys. Yesterday I tried a new place out called Thaikun which is based in Manchester (Spinningfields). The place itself looked incredible giving off this Thailand vibe and once entering you actually felt like you stepped into a home of Thailand authenticity. Thaikun is a restaurant that delivers Thai street food, but also whilst dining there you experience thai food like you would on the streets of Bangkok. The waiters and waitresses were so friendly and polite and offered me and my friend the most recommended dishes on the menu as we could not make up our minds on what we wanted.

We first ordered mocktails, which was basically cocktails without the alcohol lol (keeping it halal guys). So we ordered the 'My Thai' which was orange and strawberry mixed with pineapple juice and coconut cream. It was real nice and sweet but had a little kick to it, though they had a range of flavours to choose from so if this doesn't float your boat no worries! After ordering drinks, we then went on to order our mainss (OH YA! the good bit). So between us both we decided to share a curry dish and a stir fry dish. We went for the 'Massamang Gai' which was a chicken thai curry mixed with cinnamon, star anise, onions, potatoes and cashew nuts. Now guys this curry was ranked the no.1 thai curry.. and OH LORDY there's a reason for that.. I literally could not get enough of this curry is was soooooooo good. It had this creamy, buttery and sweet taste to it, which complimented the rice that comes with it. Like me writing this up is making my mouth water.. it was something I haven't tasted before. The only thing I would say I disliked about it was the cashew nuts, I am not a big fan of nuts in my food.

We also ordered the 'Gai Phad Med' which was a deep fried chicken stir fry, stir fried with; peppers, mushrooms, spring onions, dried red chillies and cashew nuts in a Thai chilli sauce. We ordered noodles with this separately as the stir fry mains come on their own. Now I love my stir frys and all but I was not a major fan of this one if I am honest. It had a sweet and chilli kick to it, and again it had so many nuts! However, my friend really enjoyed it so I ended up giving her my share too. I definitely preferred the curry over the stir fry... yes definitely (I really wouldn't mind some right now!!).

Overall I enjoyed my experience at Thaikun and would I go there again? OH YA that curry is calling for me I tell you! It really gave off a Thai street vibe starting from the interior to the food. I would totally recommend anyone from Manchester or who visits to try Thaikun out! If you do, please let me know of your experience and definitely try out the 'Massamang Gai' curry!! Thank you to those who read and made it to the end. Take care my lovelies I shall post real soon again.

Lots of Love
